Our Services

Utilising 4x4 equipped vehicles, we aid in the transportation of NHS staff in extreme weather; assisting with flood evacuation and road closures; marshalling at public events; and helping with traction assistance for "off road" event parking situations.

OUR TEAM...

Each year we receive more requests for assistance and as a result, we are always looking for new volunteers to join the team.

STAFFORDSHIRE & SHROPSHIRE 4×4 RESPONSE’S PRIMARY FOCUS
To preserve and protect human life and property by supplementing and supporting emergency services, statutory bodies and other organisations as deemed appropriate by the management. In particular, but not exclusively, by providing drivers, 4×4 vehicles and other resources in adverse conditions or other times of need. Operating mainly in the Staffordshire and Shropshire areas but we often go where our clients need us. We are run entirely by volunteers.

We currently operate with 2 different memberships: RESPONDER and SUPPORT MEMBER

As a RESPONDER you will likely have a 4×4 or AWD (all-wheel drive) of your own, or some kind of transport to enable you to assist in the transport of our clients

As a SUPPORT MEMBER you’re involvement is equally as important to us! As a support member, you would be undertaking Control and Dispatch duties, working from home on any PC or laptop on our web-based control systems, monitoring our Responders when out on call; including doing Welfare Checks to ensure their safety, and helping to assign callouts during our busiest periods.

Again, being a Support Member would put you at the beating heart of the group, so to speak. All training would be given, and you would have full support from the Management to quickly get you up to speed. Our Support Members are easily of equal value and importance as our Responders, it just means you can stay in the warm and dry whilst doing your job, whilst they battle the elements and do the actual driving!

Before you complete the initial joining application form, please make sure you have read and understood the points below which we expect from all volunteers. Completing this application is not an automatic acceptance. The Management reserves the right to refuse an application, or terminate a membership, at any time without reason.

Failure to comply with any of these requirements could result in you being suspended or removed from the organisation.

Despite us all being unpaid volunteers, we work alongside companies, event organisers, emergency services, and the general public. All of these require a professional and efficient approach by Staffordshire & Shropshire 4×4 Response members as you will be representing the Group.

Finally, WE ARE NOT A CLUB. If you are looking for green lane tours, pay & play days, or trips away, this may not be the right organisation for you.

All Members

All considered applicants, both Responder and Support Member, will need to comply with the following joining criteria:
  • Complete a basic DBS check
  • Read and accept the membership agreement
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be in general good health

  • Have access to a mobile phone and computer with internet connection for group communications
  • Be able to attend meetings at least 3 times a year
